Mx6 uses a new, more powerful CPU with an integrated H.264 encoder, and fulfills the ONVIF standard for video transmission and camera integration. This significantly simplifies MOBOTIX system integration. There is no longer any reason to forgo brilliant, high-resolution images from robust cameras with secure data – made in Germany.
What Is ONVIF?
The Open Network Video Interface Forum (ONVIF) is a non-profit, open industry forum for developing a global standard for network-based security solutions (IP cameras, recording devices, and software). ONVIF-capability allows components made by various vendors to be freely and flexibly combined, without incurring additional integration costs.
The ONVIF standard is not required for a MOBOTIX video system used without integrating third-party products. In this case, each camera on the current, powerful Mx6 system platform cam be switched to the ever-powerful MxPEG video codec, which MOBOTIX specially developed for video security applications.

MxPEG And H.264 Video Codecs
The increase in system performance also enables new functions. For example, the current MOBOTIX Mx6 camera platform can also generate an H.264 stream in addition to MxPEG and MJPEG video codecs. This means that even though the MxPEG codec developed by MOBOTIX for compressing and storing image and video data remains the security codec of choice thanks to its superior individual image quality, the optional H.264 standard offers the advantage of easy integration of MOBOTIX cameras into third-party video management software, as well as the opportunity to participate in tenders for which H.264 is planned.

ONVIF
Cameras for the new Mx6 platform are completely ONVIF-capable and already fulfill many basic functions of the global open interface standard. A firmware update scheduled for upcoming release will aim for
complete ONVIF compatibility (www.onvif.org). This makes MOBOTIX partners and customers significantly more flexible and efficient when planning security solutions consisting of custom component combinations (camera, recording devices, accessories, VM software).
