c71, p71, v71
Creation Date: 2022-09-01
Publishing Date: 2022-09-09
Important notes on installation
- This version
supports all MOBOTIX 7 camera models. They are all updated with the
same file MX_system_7_3146.mpl
from the Support > Download Center > All
software downloads > cameras > MX system release 7.3.1.46 section
of the MOBOTIX website (https://www.mobotix.com).
-
If you are using Certified Apps in the camera,
you must update them using the MX_preinstalled_apps_2022-09-01.app
package from the Support > Download Center > All
Software Downloads > Certified Apps section of the
MOBOTIX website (https://www.mobotix.com). This
package also includes the App MOBOTIX Analytics with
AI/deep learning-based object recognition.
Enhancements and improvements
Support indoor models c71, p71 and v71
This software version also supports the new Mx7 indoor camera models c71,
p71 and v71. In contrast to the outdoor
models of the Mx7 camera line, these models can also be operated with PoE
Class 3. To activate this energy-saving mode, a small switch on the camera
board, right next to the RJ45 socket, must first be set to position "1"
and then the PoE class 3 must be set in the web user interface. For this
purpose, in the Admin Menu > Network Configuration >
Ethernet interface dialog, in the Ethernet Hardware
Options section, there is the Configure PoE function
button. With its help, another dialog Power
over Ethernet (PoE) is opened and there the setting of the Power
Supply option can be changed to the value Power
over Ethernet (Class 3).
Notes on
operation in PoE class 3
- The IR LEDs of the camera are operated in this
operating mode only with reduced power consumption and produce a lower
brightness.
- The new USB Power Output function (see below)
cannot be activated in this mode in the Admin Menu > Manage
Hardware Configuration > Hardware Extensions dialog.
Whitelight module support for M73 and S74 cameras
This firmware version supports the new Whitelight module for M73 and S74
cameras. Depending on the variant, the High Power LED module can
illuminate an area around the camera with a distance of up to 80 m and
thus significantly increase the image quality. After connecting a
Whitelight module to one of the camera ports, just like an IR Light
module, it can be used in the Admin Menu > Hardware
Configuration > Assign Wires dialog, by selecting the value
White Light: M<Port No> for the Lights or
IR Lights option, for illumination after automatic
day-night switching. In the Signal Out Profiles dialog,
it can also be used to define Signal Output Profiles by selecting the same
value for the Signal Out Action(SO) option and thus
switched on/off in response to any events.
Notes on the use
of Whitelight and IR light modules
- For several light modules connected to the camera (Whitelight and/or
IR modules), in the Admin Menu > Hardware
Configuration > Assign Wires dialog, as a value for the
options Lights or IR Lights in
addition to a specific light module, depending on the module type also
the value WL Illuminator, IR Illuminator or WL+IR
Illuminator can be selected. In this case, all connected light
modules are activated simultaneously after a day-night switch
for illumination.
- The same applies analogously to the selection of light modules in
the Signal Out Profiles dialog. There, too, a
specific module or all light modules connected to the camera can be
selected for use in Signal Out Profiles . An associated event then
also triggers an activation of all connected light modules at the same
time.
Improvements of the Storage Failure Detection
- Monitoring of retention time
With the help of the new Time to Keep option in the General
Settings area of the Admin Menu > Storage >
Storage Failure Detection dialog, the retention time set by
the Time to Keep option in the Admin Menu
> Storage > Storage on External File Server / Flash Device
dialog can be monitored. If the retention time cannot be reached, e.g.
because the existing storage area of the file server used is not
sufficient and the recording therefore is running round before the
retention time is reached, a notification and output of a message takes
place in the log file of the Memory Failure Monitoring
dialog.
- SD Card Flash Wear and I/O Error Messages
After activating the SD card I/O option in the General
Settings section of the Admin Menu > Storage >
Storage Failure Detection dialog, critical system
error messages are displayed as soon as the flash wear has reached 100%.
In addition, this option causes the notification of SD card I/O errors
and the output of messages for I/O errors in the log file of the
above-mentioned dialog.
- Monitoring the MxFFS Archive Buffer
Activating the new Buffer MxFFS Archive option in the
the General Settings section of the Admin
Menu > Storage > Storage Failure Detection dialog
monitors the SD card transfer buffer when stored in a (buffered) MxFFS
archive. When storing in a MxFFS archive with the SD card as the primary
target, a message is notified and output in the log file of the Storage
Failure Detection dialog as soon as the SD card has a level
of 120MByte. The messages are sent until the level has fallen below
80MByte again. When stored in a buffered MxFFS archive, the notification
and message output take place as soon as the data is stored on the SD
card instead of directly in the archive.
Thermal Camera Enhancements
- Ambient temperature for thermal cameras
Decimal values can now also be specified for the Ambient
Temperature to be set in the Temperature
Compensation area of the Setup Menu > Thermal
Sensor Settings dialog.
- SNMP OIDs for Thermal TR Measurement Windows
For Thermal TR cameras, an additional table object statusThermalRadiometryTemperatureTable,
which is specified in the MOBOTIX SNMP MIB file, is now
returned via SNMP. This contains, among others, the values of the
measured temperature for each defined temperature measurement window.
Depending on the set Comparison Type of the TR event,
the maximum or minimum measured temperature is transmitted.
Updated Certified Apps
Along with this version of the camera software, a new Certified app
package 'MX_preinstalled_apps_2022-09-01.app' has also been released. This
package contains all Certified Apps, including the MOBOTIX
Analytics app with AI/Deep Learning-based object recognition.
Compared to the previous version, it includes some improved
versions of the Apps from MOBOTIX, Visage Technologies and Vaxtor.
Details on the exact content of the package and the changes can be found
in the release notes for the package in the Support > Download
Center > All Software Downloads > Certified Apps > MX Certified
Apps Release 2022-09-01 section of the MOBOTIX website
(https://www.mobotix.com).
Other improvements
- USB Power Output
In the Admin Menu > Hardware Configuration > Manage
Hardware Expansions dialog, it is possible to set the USB
Power Output operating mode in the USB Connector area.
By activating a previously configured USB Power Output, a device
connected to the camera USB port, such
as an
IR radiator
powered by
USB, is supplied with a
voltage of 5V by the camera via the USB interface. The activation can be
done by an automatic day-night-switch or by executing a corresponding
Signal Out Profile, for example after an assigned event. The required
configuration is done in the Admin Menu > Hardware
Configuration > Assign Wires or in the Signal
Out Profiles dialog by selecting the value Camera: USB
Power for the corresponding option.
- Improved App stability
When using Certified Apps of the Mx7 camera line, there could be
internal camera stability problems. This was especially true for the use
of several Apps at the same time and manifested itself in the following
error behavior
- The list of activatable Apps in the Setup Menu >
Certified App Control > Certified App Settings dialog
remained empty and no Apps could be configured. After a camera
restart, they were available again .
- The transmission of the App result data and its display in the
MxManagementCenter (MxMC) using the Smart Data Interface no longer
worked. In this case, a camera restart was necessary before camera App
data could be searched for and displayed again in the MxMC.
This behavior has now been fundamentally
improved so that the Apps can be displayed and used in a stable way.
Bugfixes
- S74 cameras and
MultiSense module
When operating a MultiSense module on an S74 camera, it could happen
after a camera restart that values for the PIR and temperature sensor
could no longer be read by the camera and thus defined events could no
longer be triggered. This has been corrected and there is still a
restriction with the light sensor (see below).
- Q71 Installation
Mode
Setting the Installation option in the
vPTZ area of the Quick Controls to the Wall or Floor
values was incorrect in some cases.
- Bugfixes in the area of day-night
switching and IR illumination
- Day-night switching
for IR-Cut Day & Night Sensor Modules
Especially with ULL sensor modules with IR-Cut filter, the factory-set
automatic day/night switching (options IR-Cut Filter and
Light Switch) could lead to the camera running permanently in night or
day mode after a switching process and having to be switched manually.
- Profiles ~IRLightON,
~IRLightOFF, ~IRLightToggle not usable
When defining action groups, the internal Signal Out profiles
~IRLightON, ~IRLightOFF, ~IRLightToggle could not be
selected for actions if no MX-232-IO box or S74 IO slide-in boards
were connected to the camera.
- Using the Signal Out
for day-night switching
In the Admin Menu > Hardware Configuration >
Assign Wires dialog, the use of the Value Camera: Out
for the IR Lights option was incorrect and thus the Signal Out
could not be used to switch on for example an external IR emitter
after switching to night mode.
- LPF sensors and IR
illumination
The use of an LPF sensor did not result in the internal Signal Out
Profile ~IRLightOn
being permanently activated and thus permanently switching on a
corresponding IR emitter or a built-in IR light module, as is
necessary for the use of an LPF sensor.
- Day-night switching
for separate sensors
In the "classic" day-night switching between a color and a
black-and-white sensor module, switching on the light source selected
in the Admin > Hardware Configuration > Assign Wires dialog
for the IR Lights option did not work after
switching to night mode.
- Multisense
illumination value in camera status
The lux value displayed in the Camera Status
dialog in the Sensors area for a connected Multisense
module was incorrect.
- Definition of SIP
accounts
When defining SIP accounts in the Admin Menu > Audio and
VoIP Telephony > SIP Server Settings dialog, the error
message 'Error: SIP addresses and user names must be unique.' could
occur despite valid entries.
- Changing the Camera
Mode
Switching the Camera Mode in the Admin Menu
> Hardware Configuration > Camera Mode dialog from Streaming
to AI or vice versa was sometimes not performed correctly if
the subsequent necessary camera restart was not performed manually, but
via the Reboot link available in the dialog.
Known Limitations
- S74 cameras and
MultiSense module
When operating a MultiSense module on a S74 camera, the light sensor of
the module cannot be read out after a camera restart. In this case, no
lux value for the Multisense is displayed in the Camera Status dialog in
the Sensors area and events in the definition of which the illumination
values of this sensor are used no longer trigger!
- A.I.Tech Apps and
Thermal Sensors
A.I.Tech's Certified Apps cannot currently be used for thermal module
video streams.
- Dialog Setup Menu
> Certified App Control > Certified Apps Settings
After the first activation of the Arming option in the
above dialog, the check boxes for activating the individual Apps are not
displayed. After reloading the dialog, they are then available.
- Online help for App
dialogs
Online help is currently only partially available in the dialogs for
configuring the Certified Apps.
- Softbutton LEDs
Blink
The soft button function LEDsBlink is without function
and does not control the LEDs of the sensor modules.
- Microphone Event
Currently, no microphone event is supported. This applies to the
built-in microphone in the Audio and MultiSense module as well as to a
connected microphone, to the Line-In connector of the S74 Audio IO board
and to the new Q71 model.
- RTP streaming
- When streaming 12 MP sensors via the camera's RTP
server in Full Streaming Mode, the maximum
resolution in the aspect ratio "1:1" (2880x2880) is currently only
available if the stream is configured to the MxPEG codec.
- When using the camera's RTP server in Raw Streaming Mode,
the "UltraHD" resolution is only available on 4K
Optical sensors. "UltraHD" is not supported on 12MP and 4MP ULL
optical sensors.
- On MOBOTIX 7 single lense cameras
(Q71, D71, c71, p71, v71) the RAW mode is currently disabled and is
not supported.

package also includes the App MOBOTIX Analytics with
AI/deep learning-based object recognition.
Enhancements and improvements
ONVIF-G
With this software version, the M7 camera models support the ONVIF-G
standard. This allows these cameras to use the ONVIF-G protocol to
configure edge recording on the camera's internal SD card and then access
the data stored in this way. Some video management systems, such as e.g.
MOBOTIX HUB, use this function to implement a so-called "fail-over
recording". With that the failure of a storage server is briefly bridged
by an edge recording on the camera.
Notes on ONVIF-G
- In this software version, the recordings are
stored by edge recording on the camera's internal SD card in the same
area as the data from activated Apps, i.e. in the User Data
partition. This will be changed in a subsequent software version and
the size of the area on the SD card available for edge recording will
be adjustable.
- For newly delivered cameras, the partition is already available ex
works. For older cameras with a software version earlier than 7.2.1.29
or when replacing the SD card, the SD card must be reformatted and
this partition created.
- It is not possible to record or access an external
file server or flash media (USB stick, SDD drive) using
ONVIF-G.
- Currently, the ONVIF G edge recording supports
the video codecs H.264 and H.265. The MJPEG and
MxPEG codecs are not supported.
- Currently, it is not possible to stream audio
data via the ONVIF-G interface in addition to video.
- Once recording data have been stored for a
particular ONVIF recording, switching the video codec
of the recording source is currently not recommended.
To switch recording codecs for an ONVIF recording, it is recommended
to format the storage medium.
Updated and new Certified Apps
Along with this version of the camera software, a new Certified App
package 'MX_preinstalled_apps_2022-06-21.app'
has also been released. This package contains all Certified Apps,
including the MOBOTIX Analytics App with AI/Deep
Learning-based object recognition. Compared to the
previous version, it also includes revised versions of the Apps
from FFGroup, Vaxtor and Iristy, a new App
from Vaxtor (USDOT) as well as two new Apps
from MOBOTIX for color recognition (Mobotix
Color Recognition) and AI-based motion detection (Mobotix
ActivitySensor). Details on the exact content of the package
and the changes can be found in the release notes for the package in the Support
> Download Center > All Software Downloads > Certified Apps
> MX Certified Apps Release 2022-05-31 area of the MOBOTIX
website (https://www.mobotix.com).
Other improvements
- SNMP support
With this version, SNMP clients can also receive various
temperature values from thermal cameras via the SNMP protocol. The
SNMP-MIB file of the camera has been extended by corresponding OIDs 'MOBOTIX-MIB::statusThermal*'.
- Maximum text font size
The maximum size of the text fonts for text overlays in the
live image or image profiles has been increased from 24pt to 48pt.
- Online help Integration Protocols
The online help of the dialog Admin
Menu > Camera administration > Integration Protocols has
been expanded and improved in many places.
Bugfixes
- PoE switches with
PoE class3 (correction in 7.3.1.31-r3)
For network switches that return an incorrect PoE class (PoE3 instead of
PoE+) during the negotiation phase, the camera version 7.3.1.31-r1 did
not support the operation of additional resources such as an IR module.
- IR module with LPF
sensor module (correction in V7.3.1.31-r3)
The operation of an IR module together with an LPF sensor module was not
possible in version 7.3.1.31-r1.
- Update of older
software versions with activated App Object Recognition (correction
in V7.3.1.31-r3)
If an older software version was updated to version 7.3.1.31 or
7.3.1.31-r1 on a camera with App Object Recognition
enabled, without first disabling this App and resetting the camera to
"Streaming" mode, some combinations of firmware and App version could
lead to problems: the camera then restarted again and again after a few
seconds of uptime.
- Further
WDR improvements
In special lighting situations, the following effects could still occur
when WDR is activated: short-term black image, unstable exposure
control, image flickering (fast change between brighter and darker image
with increased MxPEG rate).
- Camera restarts when
combining Apps and thermal modules
For cameras with a thermal module connected to Port1 or Port2,
activating the Certified Apps led to a regular (every 5min) restart of
the camera.
- Day-night switching
for IR-Cut Day & Night Sensor Modules
Depending on the software version, the factory-set automatic day/night
switching (options IR-Cut Filter and Light
Switch) for IR-Cut Day & Night sensor modules could lead
to the cameras running permanently in night mode (from V7.2.1.x on) or
day mode and had to be switched manually.
- Variables $(SEN.
TC0. CELSIUS),... $(SEN. TC3. CELSIUS) in image profiles
The temperature variables $(SEN.
TC0. CELSIUS),... $(SEN. TC3. CELSIUS)to display the
temperature, e.g. of a MultiSense module, were not displayed with their
current values but empty when used in image profiles.
- Camera mode AI and
exposure settings
When operating the camera in AI mode, not all options were
available in the Setup Menu > Image Control > Exposure
Settings dialog. Among other things, the definitions of the
exposure windows were missing.
- Dark page layout and
formatting wizard
When using the Dark Theme in the camera's
graphical user interface, some options were difficult to see in the
Formatter Wizard: MxFFS Volume Partitioning dialog.
- System messages for
LPF sensor modules
During the operation of LPF sensor modules, incorrect entries "EVENT IR
Light Switched on" occurred in the system messages.
- Activation of a
MultiSense PIR event in the MxMC
The PIR sensor of a MultiSense module connected to the camera could not
be used to activate PIR-events in the camera by the MxManagementCenter.
Known Limitations
- S74 cameras and
MultiSense module
When operating a MultiSense module on a S74 camera, the sensors of the
MultiSense module may no longer deliver values to the camera after a
camera restart.
(Q71, D71) the RAW mode is currently disabled and is not supported.

Enhancements and improvements
Support for the new Q71-Hemispheric camera model
This version supports the new MOBOTIX 7 camera model Q71-Hemispheric.
The camera has a 12-mega-pixel image sensor with integrated IR cut filter,
a hemispheric lens, microphone and speaker, as well as integrated LEDs for
IR and White Light Illumination. Compared to the M73 and S74 camera
models, the following software functions are available:
- Setting
of different Display Modes with
automatic image
correction (Normal,
Surround, Panorama, Panorama Focus, Double Panorama) in the Quick
Controls or in
the Setup Menu >
Image Control > General Image Settings dialog
- Selection
of
additional resolutions (12MP
1:1 (2880x2880), UltraHD2(2144x2144), FullHD2(1080x1080),
HD2 1:1(768x768),
nHD21:1(360x360)) in the Quick-Controls
or in the Setup Menu > Image Control > General Image Settings dialog
- Setting
of the installation (wall,
ceiling, floor) in the vPTZ
area of the Quick
Controls
- Activation of the
integrated IR and White Light LEDs
These
integrated illuminations are activated in the Admin Menu >
Hardware Configuration > Assign Wires
dialog. In the factory settings, the options are set as
follows:
- Lights =
White Light Ring
- IR Lights =
IR Light Ring
With
this setting, IR illumination is used after an automatic day-night
switching (also factory set) in night mode. If White Light Illumintaion
is to be used in night mode and the camera shall continue to produce a
color image, the following options must be set:
- IR Lights =
White Light Ring
- IR-Cut-Filter = IR-Filter-On (in the Setup Menu
dialog > Image Control > General Image Settings)
For
testing and quick switching on/off the two types of lighting, two
suitable Shortcuts
are also
defined
ex works in the title bar of the web browser's live view (see
section "Shortcuts
for soft button functions" below).
The
other software functions are identical to those of the M73 and S74
models.
Note:
This software version only supports MOBOTIX Analytics on the Q71 as a
Certified Apps, currently without Behavioral Detection.
Support of the new camera model D71 - Single Lens Dome
This
version supports the new MOBOTIX 7 camera model D71 - Single Lens Dome.
The camera is available with a 4K UHD or 4MP ULL sensor, each with
integrated IR cut filter, has a 3-axis pan-tilt head (manual
adjustment), microphone and speaker, and integrated IR illumination. The
activation of the integrated IR illumination also succeeds
here in the Admin
Menu > Hardware Configuration > Assign Wires
dialog. From the factory, the IR
Lights option is already set to the value IR Light Ring
and thus the IR illumination is automatically used to generate the black
and white images in night mode.
The other software functions are identical to those of
the M73 and S74 models.
Note on the Certified Apps:
To configure the Certified Apps, a sensor selection is currently also
offered for this camera model. Here the
right image sensor or
the setting
Auto must be selected. This will be fixed with
an upcoming firmware version 7.3.x
Support of the new hemispheric 12MP sensor modules
For
use with an S74 camera, there are now also hemispheric sensor modules
with a resolution of 12MP and integrated IR cut filter availabe. The
connection, configuration and use of these modules are completely
analogous to the non-hemispheric sensor modules. The correction-specific
software functions, such as e.g. the setting of the installation type or
the use of the corrected Display Mode, are identical to the functions in
the new hemispheric Q71 camera model (see above).
Support of the new Thermal Eco module
This new low-cost thermal module can be integrated into all existing mounts
and connected to an S74 camera (also to the sensor ports M1 and M2). The
configuration and usage are analogous to the other thermal sensor modules.
This module is particularly suitable for the use of the Activity
Sensor and for use in Thermal Overlay images.
In addition, Thermal Reference Events are supported, but
temperature measurements and Spotmeter Events
are not available.
Multiview view
The familiar Multiview
view for displaying live images and the latest event images from one or
more cameras in the web browser is now also available in the new
graphical user interface. This view is activated via the new function
icon
on the right side of the title bar. After activating this view, the
function icon for configuring the Multiview views appears. The actual
configuration and use of the Multiview views do not differ from the
Multiview views of the previous software versions.
LED Configuration
The Admin Menu >
Camera Administration > LED Setup dialog contains an
additional section LED Order and
Settings for the individual configuration of the
camera LED and the LEDs of all sensor modules connected to the camera.
Software Update
The Admin Menu > System Update > Update System software dialog
has been completely redesigned and improved. Among other things, the status
messages issued during the system update are now displayed directly in the
dialog. For compatibility reasons, the previous dialog can still be used by
calling the link <IP>/admin/sysupload
directly.
App license management
Using
the new Admin Menu > Camera
Administration > Manage App Licenses dialog,
the required licenses for integrated Apps can now also be requested and
activated directly from the camera. As in the MxManagementCenter, both
offline and online activation is also possible here.
Improvements to the new graphical user interface
The
following improvements have been implemented for the new graphical user
interface for web browsers introduced with version 7.2.1.29:
- Title bar
The title
bar is now not drawn transparently and thus all symbols contained in
it are always clearly recognizable. In addition, the icon for
deactivating/activating PTZ actions in the activated state is no
longer crossed out.
In the Admin Menu > Page Administration > Language and Start
Page dialog, there is a new section
Shortcuts. There, one
or two soft button functions can be defined, which can then be selected
using additional icons on the right side of the title bar of the web
browser window.
- Visual Alarm Profiles
In the Logos and
Image Profiles
section of the Admin Menu there is now an additional link Visual Alarm
Profiles. This allows these profiles to be edited
faster than before, for example to be used in SNMP Alarm Traps (see next
section).
- Event Player
The function icons in Event Player mode are now easier to recognize.
- Event overview
In the Setup Menu >
Event Control > Event Overview dialog,
the active events are now easier to recognize.
- Camera Mode
dialog
The Admin Menu > Hardware Configuration > Camera Mode dialog
has been improved so that it is no longer possible to trigger a camera
reboot from the dialog without permanently saving the changes made
beforehand.
- Configuration
of the Certified Apps
When using a Dark Theme, the bright areas
of some dialogs for configuring Certified Apps (e.B. Vaxtor LPR) are
now easier to read.
Enhanced SNMP Traps
Alarm
Traps
Visual
Alarms, which are linked to
individual events via Action Groups, can now be used to generate SNMP Alarm Traps. These
are then sent to the SNMP client when one of the associated events is
triggered. In addition, an SNMP trap can also be generated for
acknowledging the visual alarms.
To
configure such SNMP Traps,
the following steps are necessary:
- Configuring
SNMP
- Creating
a Profile (e.g. "VA
Permanent") for a Visual Alarm
with the following properties
- Name
= VA Permanent (example)
- Display
time = Unlimited
- Alarm
Acknowledgement = Enabled
- Send
SNMP Trap = Activated
- Create
an Action Group with the following properties:
- Name
= VA Permanent (example)
- Action
1 = Visual Alarm: VA Permanent
- Event
selection = <selection of the desired events, including "Signal:
UC" for testing >
Subsequently,
the triggering of SNMP Traps via a Visual Alarm and its acknowledgement can be tested as follows:
- Activation
and operation of the soft button "UC Event" (= factory setting)
- Activation
and activation of a soft button "Acknowledge"
Alternative:
- Activation
and operation of a shortcut (see above) "UC Event" in the title bar
- Activation
and operation of a shortcut (see above) "Acknowledge" in the title bar
Additional:
- Show
the variable $(EVT. VATIMESTAMP) in
the live image to display the timestamp of the last acknowledgement of
a Visual Alarm
- Signaling
of the Visual Alarm via the camera LEDs (see above), e.g. selection Visual
Alarm as a value for LED Main
Switch
This
creates the following SNMP trap
OIDs:
.1.3.6.1.4.1.21701.3.5.1
--> visualAlarmNew
.1.3.6.1.4.1.21701.3.5.2 --> visualAlarmCleared
Error
Messages
Certain
camera error messages can now also be sent as SNMP Traps to a connected
SNMP client. For this purpose, the following dialogs have been extended
by an additional option SNMP
Traps:
- Admin Menu >
System Information > Error Notification, each with an option in the Notification
and Notification After Reboot sections
- Admin Menu >
Storage > Storage Failure Detection, in the Notification section
- Admin Menu >
Network Setup > Web Server, in the Intrusion
Detection Settings section
Extended text variables
- New temperature
variables with additional formats
For a more flexible display in the live image and better use in camera
API calls, new temperature variables have been added. In addition to
the existing variables
'$(SEN.<Sensor
type>.Celsius)' and
'$(SEN.<Sensor Type>.Fahrenheit)'
it's now possible to use the new variables
'$(SEN.<Sensor
Type>.<Unit>.<Format>)'.
The
following applies:
- Unit
from {'Celsius',
'C, 'c, 'Fahrenheit', 'F', 'f', 'Kelvin', 'K', 'k'}
- Format
from {'INT',
'I10', ''F10', 'F41', 'F72', 'NUM'} with the following
meanings:
- INT:
Output as an integer with possibly negative sign
- I10:
Output of the value multiplied by 10 as an integer with possibly
negative sign
- F10:
Output of the value as an integer with at least one place and with
sign
- F41:
Left-aligned output with at least 4 digits, with 1 decimal place
and sign
- F72:
Left-aligned output with at least 7 digits, with 2 decimal places
and signs
- NUM:
Output as a decimal number with decimal places with possibly
negative sign - specially designed for use within JSON expressions
- Examples
of a measured Thermal TR temperature value of +56.7
C°:
- $(SEN.TTR.C.INT)
=> "56"
- $(SEN.TTR.C.I10)
=> "567"
- $(SEN.TTR.C.F41)
=> "+56.7"
- $(SEN.TTR.C.F72)
=> "+56.70 "
- $(SEN.TTR.C.NUM)
=> "56.7"
- 'SKIP'option
for text variables
The '$(<Variable>,
SKIP=<Number>)' option
skips the first
<number> characters
of the value of <Variable>
in the output. For a negative <number>
the characters of the variable value are skipped from the
end.
- Temperature
variables for different Thermal Measurement Windows
In addition to the variables $(SEN.TTR.CELSIUS/FAHRENHEIT)now
also the variables $(SEN.TTR.0.
CELSIUS/FAHRENHEIT), $(SEN. TTR.1.CELSIUS/FAHRENHEIT),...
$(SEN.TTR.<(number of
measurement windows)-1>.CELSIUS/FAHRENHEIT) are
available to determine the specific temperature values in the

Other improvements
- Camera Support Information
Downloading the support information using the Admin Menu > System
Information > Download Support Information dialog now generates a
file in the format '.tgz'
instead of '.eml'
as before.
Bugfixes
- Image flickering at
WDR
When WDR was activated, minor changes in illumination could lead to a
change in the internal exposure parameters, which was noticeable in
the form of a single image frame that was too bright as a short
flare-up.
- Problems with the
classic design
When the camera
start page was
displayed in the Historical
Layout, the event list was not filled in the
Event Player view. In
addition, in this setting, no detection
areas could be created in the live image for some Certified Apps (e.g. FFLPR MMC).
- Thermal events after
camera restart
Thermal sensors could cause thermal events configured after a camera
restart to be triggered incorrectly.
- Variables
$(ID.ET0)/$(ID.FIP)
When the variables $(ID.ET0)
and $(ID.FIP)
were used together in this order, the current camera IP address was
returned twice instead of the current IP address and factory IP
address.
- Microphone and
Speakers dialog
The description text for the Option Announce network data in the Admin Menu > Audio and VoIP
Telephony > Speaker and Microphone dialog
of an M73 camera contained an error (using the "R button").
- Window definitions
in dual image
When using the camera selection Both
(dual image), no windows could be defined for the left image sensor in
the functional areas Activity
Sensor, Video Motion Detector (VM) and
Exposure.
- Exposure window in
the Quick Controls
After defining an exposure window using the Quick Controls, an empty
white window was sometimes displayed.
- Image settings
The changes to settings in the Setup Menu > Image Control
> General Image Settings
dialog
were then not displayed correctly in the corresponding fields
of the Quick
Controls. This
has been corrected, but a reload of the browser window is still
necessary for the correct display in the Quick Controls.
- Admin and Setup Menu
When the Admin Menu
and Setup Menu dialogs were reopened, previously
collapsed or collapsed areas were not displayed correctly opened or
closed according to the last status.
- PI event
In the Setup Menu > Event
Control > Event Overview
dialog,
a PI event was entered in the Environment
Events section,
even if no MultiSense module with PIR sensor was connected.
- Format Storage
Medium dialog
The Format Storage
Medium dialog, which can be used in the Event
Player view when
downloading events, contained the invalid RAM Buffer
selection option.
Known Limitations
- Microphone Event
Currently, no microphone event is supported. This applies to the
built-in microphone in the Audio and MultiSense module as well as to a
connected microphone, to the Line-In connector of the S74 Audio IO board
and to the new Q71 model.
- Dialog Integration Protocols
For M73 cameras with only one sensor module, the Admin ->
Camera Administration -> Integration Protocols dialog is
empty after activating one of the protocols ONVIF
or Genetec via the
installation wizard of the web browser. This state can be corrected by
first deactivating the set protocol ONVIF or Genetec
and then turning it back on.

Software Release MX-V7.2.1.29 − for M7 Camera Models M73, S74
Creation Date: 2021-08-20
Publishing Date: 2021-08-31
Important notes on installation
- With this version, no different packages are needed for M73
and S74 cameras. Both camera models are updated with the
same file MX_system_7_2129.mpl
from the section Support > Download Center > All
software downloads > Cameras > MX system release 7.2.1.29
of the MOBOTIX website (https://www.mobotix.com).
- If you are using Certified Apps in the camera, you must update them
using the MX_preinstalled_apps_2021-08-20.app
package from the Support > Download Center > All
Software Downloads > Certified Apps section of the
MOBOTIX website (https://www.mobotix.com). This
package also includes the App MOBOTIX Analytics with AI/deep
learning-based object recognition.
Enhancements and improvements
Uniform software for different camera models and apps (camera mode)
The installation file of this software version can be used for updating
M73 and S74 models alike. It also directly supports the use of the App MOBOTIX
Analytics with AI/deep learning-based object recognition. After
installing this App (see below), only the option Camera Mode
in the new Admin > Hardware Configuration > Camera mode
dialog has to be changed from Streaming to AI . After
a subsequent camera reboot the App can then be activated
and via the Setup > Control for Certified Apps > Settings
for Certified Apps dialog.
Note:
When operating the camera in AI mode, the following restrictions apply:
- Only one optical image sensor can be connected and
used. However, the additional use of a Thermal Sensor module
is possible. This requires a Thermal Sensor module of the
latest generation (with a "B" in the order number, e.B.
"Mx-O-M73TB-640R050"), which must then be connected to port M2. In
this case, e.g. the configuration as a day/night camera (Camera
Selection Auto) together with an AI/deep
learning-based Object Recognition for the optical sensor and a use of
the Activity Sensor for the Thermal Sensor module represents a useful
application.
- The WIDE Dynamic Range (WDR) function is not available.
New graphical user interface for web browsers
The layout and operation of the HTML pages for controlling the camera
using a web browser have been fundamentally revised and improved. The
structure of the dialogues and their context have not been changed!
The following describes the most important changes compared to the
previous versions.
Camera Start Page
- In addition to the live camera image, the start page now contains only
a partially transparent title line with the following elements::
- Menu selection at top left
: This opens a dialog for selecting all Quick Controls and all Soft
Buttons, including Admin Menu and Setup
Menu
Function symbols in the right corner of the
title line:
- PTZ actions :
With this symbol, PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) actions can be (de-)activated
with the mouse in the live image.
- Pause live image
: This allows the live display of the camera image to be paused in the
browser, for example to reduce computer usage, or to capture a detail
in the current camera image.
- Save image :
This feature saves the current live camera image.
- Camera online help :
This opens the HTML online help of the camera.
- Camera status :
Clicking on this icon opens the Camera Status
dialog.
- Player view
: Here you can switch between the Live and Player View.
The design of the start page can be
adjusted in the new Page Design area of the Admin
> Page Administration > Language and Start Page
dialog. There, the following new options are available:
- Theme: to switch between a dark and light background
- Layout: to switch between the new and classic layout
of the start page
- Window Opacity: to change the transparency of the
individual dialogs
The camera image is now
always scaled so that it is completely visible in the browser window. This
applies both to the live image and to the display in the camera player.
After displaying the Soft-Buttons by
opening the menu in the upper left corner of the start page, the edit mode
for the Soft-Bbuttons can be opened via the lock symbol in the lower left
corner. The positions of the individual Soft-Buttons can now be changed by
drag & drop with the mouse. In addition, by pressing the
symbol
at the bottom left, a list of the defined Soft-Buttons
is
displayed, from which a Soft-Button can be inserted by drag & drop
with the mouse into the Soft-Buttons list of the start page.
Structure and operation of the dialogues
- Window
areas
The window areas of the individual dialogs are now all limited to the
display area of the camera window in the web browser.
- Parameter
areas
The individual parameter areas for grouping certain options within the
dialogs are folded in by default and can be opened and closed again
via the Symbol
in the right corner of the area title line. The camera SW uses browser
cookies to remember the state of the dialogs and restores it after
closing and reopening a dialog.
- Graphical
definition of windows in the camera image
At all points for the definition of window areas within the camera
live image (e.g. when defining exposure windows) there is now no need
to use a key combination ("Shift + Click", "Click").
Instead, after pressing the respective button for adding an
area (e.g. the Add
Exposure Area
button in the Setup > Image Settings > Exposure
Settings) dialog,
the windows can be mounted
directly with the mouse. All stretches of the rectangle defined by
this contain "active centers", which can be moved with the mouse and
thus used to define polygons.
Editing
the camera configuration (only for experts!)
- Using the Admin
> Configuration > Edit menu entry,
the new Kurator
dialog is now opened, with the
JSON-based view of the camera configuration for reading and modifying
configuration entries.
- Via the menu entry Admin > Configuration > Text Edit,
the Edit Configuration File dialog can still be
opened, with the classic file view, grouped by "Sections", for reading
and changing the camera configuration.
Online Help
The online help has been adapted to the changed user interface and in
individual dialogs additional additions and changes have been made.
MOBOTIX HUB connection with failover recording on the SD card
When integrating the camera
into the MOBOTIX HUB, the so-called "Failover Edge Recording"
is now supported: For this purpose, the camera permanently monitors the
RTSP streaming through a previously defined recording service as the
camera's streaming client. If the streaming stops for a previously defined
period of time, e.g. due to a failure of the recording service, the video
and audio data are automatically recorded on the camera's internal SD card
until the streaming connection to the streaming client (= recording
service) has been restored.
Depending on the settings
of the failover recording in the Management Client of MOBOTIX HUB, the
data between the SD card and the recording data of the recording
service, is then, either
manually
or automatically, synchronized by the recording service. In
both cases, the data stored on the SD card during the failure is read by
the camera and transferred to the server database.
The
activation and configuration of this failover mechanism is carried out in
the Admin > Camera Administration > Integration Protocols
dialog. After selecting the Protocol ONVIF
or Genetec
+ ONVIF, the new area Edge Recording appears in the dialog.
There, the failover recording is activated and the necessary
settings, e.g. such as the IP address of the RTSP client and the waiting
time (minimum duration of the failure) are defined.
Note:
- In the present software version, the recordings are stored
by the Failover Edge Recording on the camera-internal SD
card in the same area as the data from activated Apps, i.e. in the User
Data partition. This will be changed in a subsequent
software version and the size of the area on the SD card available for
Failover Edge Recording will be adjustable.
- Users of the previous beta release V7.2.0.11 must reformat
the SD card, then reconfigure and save
the Failover Edge Recording settings in the
Integration Protocols dialog.
Support of thermal sensor modules together with audio modules
The thermal sensor modules of the latest generation (with a "B" in the order
number, e.B. "Mx-O-M73TB-640R050") can also be connected to port M1 or M2
with this firmware version in the camera and thus used together with an
audio module, which must be connected to port M3. For this purpose,
the Admin > Hardware Configuration > Sensor Module
Configuration dialog has been changed so that thermal sensor
modules can also be selected for ports M1 and M2. This applies to both M73
and S74 camera models.
Improvements in the area of Certified Apps
Unified installation package
Along with this version of the camera software, a new Certified App
package 'MX_preinstalled_apps_2021-05-27.app' has also been released. This
package now includes all Certified Apps, including the
App MOBOTIX Analytics with AI/deep learning-based object
recognition. Compared to the previous version, it also includes
revised versions of the Apps from A.I. Tech., FFGroup, Vaxtor and Visage
Technologies, as well as new Apps from Vaxtor for identifying railway
wagons with UIC codes and from FFGroup for identifying vehicle
characteristics (MMC). For details on the exact content of the package and
the changes, see the release notes for this package in the Certified
Apps > MX Certified Apps Release 2021-05-28 section of the
MOBOTIX Beta website (https://www.mobotix.com/de/beta).
New functions in the Settings dialog for Certified Apps
In the
Setup > Certified App Control > Certified App Settings dialog,
the following extensions have been integrated:
- Resource monitor
With this new option, the current utilization of the camera resources
can be displayed in the live image. Selecting the option displays the
current values for the maximum frame rate, memory used, CPU usage, and
even active Apps. This allows the camera load to be monitored,
especially in the case of several activated Apps. If necessary, an
overload, which may lead to a camera restart, can be avoided then by the
targeted deactivation of individual Apps.
- Custom text fonts
With the help of the new Custom
font option and the new Manage Font File
dialog, which is opened via the Manage Font File
link in the above dialog, you
can load your own text fonts into the camera and select them for the
display of app-specific texts in the live image. This allows, for
example, identified license plates with Arabic characters to be
displayed correctly in the image.
- Deleting
Apps
Using the Delete application button behind
each App, the App in question, including
the data generated by it, can be deleted from
the camera.
WDR-Funktion
The Wide Dynamic Range function for handling large
differences in brightness in the image has been further significantly
improved compared to the previous version using a different calculation
method. In particular, dark areas of the image are now displayed better
and there is less color distortion than before. The WDR function is still
activated using the Wide Dynamic Range option in
the Setup > Image Control > Exposure Settings
dialog whereby only a distinction is made between the values On
and Off. If required, the previous WDR algorithm with its 4
setting options (Default, Moderate, Strong and Aggressive)
can also be activated for special application situations by selecting the
value On(Legacy).
Note:
After a
software update to the present version, WDR is always
deactivated, even if it was switched on in a previous version
7.1.3.19 or lower.
Other improvements
- IR light module
together with LPF module
By activating an LPF sensor module, an IR light module also connected to
the camera is now automatically switched on at all times.
Bugfixes
- RTSP-Streaming
If only one image sensor module was connected to a M73 or S74 camera,
the streaming mode Raw could not be selected.
- Setting the image quality with ONVIF integration
During an ONVIF integration of the camera, the information
about the current setting of a constant bit rate (value of parameter RateControl.ConstantBitrate)
was in some cases not properly returned to the ONVIF client. In
addition, the ONVIF setting of a constant bitrate (by the same
parameter) for streams with video codec setting H.265 was
incorrect.
- Secure SD card formatting
Formatting the camera's internal SD card using the Secure Deletion
mode could lead to a termination of the function and subsequent restart
of the camera.
- Camera restarts when using Apps
If several apps were activated in the camera at the same time,
the camera could restart.
Known Limitations
- Microphone Event
Currently, no microphone event is supported. This applies to the
built-in microphone in the Audio and MultiSense module as well as to a
connected microphone and the Line-In connector of the S74 Audio IO
board.
- Dialog Integration Protocols
For M73 cameras with only one sensor module, the Admin ->
Camera Administration -> Integration Protocols dialog is
empty after activating one of the protocols ONVIF
or Genetec via the
installation wizard of the web browser. This state can be corrected by
first deactivating the set protocol ONVIF or Genetec
and then turning it back on.

no WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) function is available on
the camera.
Improvements
- WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) function with test option
After activating the WDR function in the Setup > Image
Control > Exposure Settings dialog, a further improvement
of the image quality in difficult lighting situations can be achieved,
there using the new Experimental Exposure Settings
option. In particular, over-exposures can be avoided after rapid
changes in brightness in a small area of the image.
- Access data for file servers
The password of a file server defined for storage in the Admin
> Storage > Storage on External File Server / Flash Device
dialog can now also contain the special character '#'.
Bugfixes
- Switching signal output after S74 camera restart
For S74 cameras a configured signal output was switched on for a short
while (< 1s) after a camera reboot.
- Dual Image in the
MxManagementCenter (MxMC)
When
displaying a camera dual image in the preview mode of the MxMC (e.g.
in the view Research or
in the dialog Clip
and Recording Configuration) the left and right camera images
were swapped.
- Image Programs
The selection of an Image Program in the quick controls of the camera
live view in the web browser resulted in an error message and the
corresponding settings were not applied.
- Signal output for
firmware with AI/deep learning-based object detection
When using the firmware to support MOBOTIX Analytics
with AI/Deep Learning-based object detection, the
signal output switch of a M73 camera was without function.
- Thermal and WDR
In the Setup > Image Control > Exposure Settings
dialog, WDR could also be activated for a thermal sensor and switching
on this option had no effect. The WDR function has been removed in this
case.
Known Limitations
- Microphone Event
Currently, no microphone event is supported. This applies to the
built-in microphone in the Audio and MultiSense module as well as to a
connected microphone and the Line-In connector of the S74 Audio IO
board.
- Dialog Integration Protocols
For M73 cameras with only one sensor module, the Admin ->
Camera Administration -> Integration Protocols dialog is
empty after activating one of the protocols ONVIF
or Genetec via the
installation wizard of the web browser. This state can be corrected by
first deactivating the set protocol ONVIF or Genetec
and then turning it back on.
- RTSP-Streaming
If only one image sensor module is connected in the M73, the streaming
mode Raw cannot be selected at this time.

no WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) function is available on
the camera.
Enhancements and Improvements
Support of Camera Model S74 and other Function Modules
This version supports the new MOBOTIX 7 camera model S74. It is a robust
camera with a die-cast aluminum housing, specially designed for concealed
installation, offering connectivity for up to four different image sensor
and function modules. Just like the M73 camera, the S74 can alternatively
be operated with one or two optical image sensor modules, with a Thermal
(-TR) sensor module alone, or with a Thermal(-TR) sensor module together
with an optical image sensor module. In addition, up to two IR-Light
modules and/or other new function modules (see next section) can be
combined with the image sensors. Cables with a length of 1, 2, or 3 meters
are available for connecting the image sensor and function modules.
Notes on the configuration of the S74:
- In principle, the installation of an S74 camera is
completely analogous to the setup of a M73 camera.
- Optical image sensors must be connected to
connection ports M1 or M2. Thermal
sensor modules must be connected to the M3 port.
- When using a 3m cable to connect an image sensor
module, it is mandatory to select the cable length Long (> 2
meters) in the Admin > Hardware Configuration > Sensor
Module Configuration dialog for this image sensor.
Selecting this cable length reduces the maximum frame rate of an
optical image sensor to 15 frames/s when WDR is activated (see below)
for it.
- If the image sensor modules are installed using special mounts
(dual or surround mounts), this can also be set in the above dialog.
In addition, the following new function modules for M73 and S74 camera
models can be used with this firmware.
MultiSense Module (M73 und S74)
This function module for M73 and S74 cameras each features a light,
temperature and passive infrared sensor and an integrated microphone. Just
like the IR Light module, it can be connected to any of the 4 ports M1 to
M4. The sensors are used to define events as usual in the Setup
> Event Control > Event Overview > Environment Events
dialog. After connecting several MultiSense modules to an S74, when
configuring an ambient sensor the relevant connection port of the
MultiSense module belonging to the sensor can be selected as the Sensor
Source.
Note
The integrated microphone can only be used when connecting the MultiSense
module to cable no. 3 of an M73.
Audio Module (M73)
With this new function module, M73 cameras have the usual audio
functions, such as audio output and audio in the video recordings. After
connecting the module, the audio is set up as usual in the Admin
> Audio and VoIP Telephony > Microphone and Speaker
dialog.
Audio/IO-Board (S74)
This allows an S74 camera to be extended with audio as well as switching
input and output functions.
For the audio output, either the connector can be used to connect a
(passive) speaker, or the line-out port can be connected to the line-in
port of an audio amplifier. As an audio input, a microphone can be
connected directly, or the line-in port can be connected to the line-out
port of an audio output device (e.g. PC or smartphone). The desired audio
functions are also configured after installing the board in the camera in
the Admin > Audio and VoIP Telephony > Microphone and
Speaker dialog.
In addition, an input signal and a potential-free output switch (relay
function) can be used with this board to control external devices. After
installation of the board, input and output signals can be used as usual
to define a signal event or signal output profile.
New WDR Function
By implementing a completely new algorithm, compared to the previous
version, the behavior of the Wide Dynamic Range function
for handling large differences in the image's brightness has been further
significantly improved. The WDR function can be activated in the Setup
> Image Control > Exposure Settings dialog. When WDR is
activated, the settings that are not needed, such as Exposure
Windows and Target Brightness, are
automatically hidden. To adapt to the current scene, 4 different Contrast
Enhancement Levels are available: Default, Moderate,
Strong and Aggressive. The default setting when
activating WDR is Default and the further the value is changed
in the direction of Aggressive, the more details can be seen
even with large brightness differences. This is associated with an
increasing change in the color characteristics in the image.
4MP-Ultra-Low-Light-Sensor
An additional, extremely light-sensitive image sensor with a resolution of 4
megapixels can now be used for special application situations. This sensor
is available as an IR Cut Day & Night sensor module with different lens
variants and can be used with both M73 and S74 cameras. Its configuration is
very similar to the setup of a 4K image sensor module.
Functional Improvements and Enhancements from the Mx6 Camera Series
In addition to the new features described above, this version also includes
all extensions that have already been released with version 5.4.0.44 for the
Mx6 camera line. These are extensions in the following areas:
- Cyber Security and Network
- Storage
- Transfer Profiles
A more detailed description of these features can be found in the release
notes of version 5.4.0.44.
Other Improvements
- ONVIF Enhancements
When integrating the camera into other systems via ONVIF interface, an
audio back channel is now also supported.
- Certified Apps
With this version, the existing Certified Apps have been revised and
improved. Regarding the installation and configuration of the Apps,
nothing has changed compared to the previous version 7.0.6.18. All Apps
are now listed in the Setup > Certified
App Control > Certified App Settings dialog with a
specific version number..
- Online Help
The integrated online help of the camera has been revised and
supplemented in several areas, especially in the areas of thermal
functions, MOBOTIX Analytics with AI-based object detection and the
A.I. Tech Apps.
Bugfixes
- Thermal TR events with Temperature Range
The use of a temperature range instead of a threshold value to
trigger thermal TR events was incorrect.
- MOBOTIX Analytics
Using more than one counting corridor could produce incorrect
counting values.
- Day-night switching for IR-Cut Day & Night Sensor Modules
Switching between the day and night mode of these sensor
modules could lead to misconduct if the lighting conditions changed
shortly after a day-night switch or if a change in image settings was
made.
- Color saturation
The color saturation setting had no effect on the camera image.
Known Limitations
- Switching output after S74 camera restart
For S74 cameras a configured signal output is switched on for a short
while (< 1s) after a camera reboot.
- Microphone Event
Currently, no microphone event is supported. This applies to the
built-in microphone in the Audio and MultiSense module as well as to a
connected microphone and the Line-In connector of the S74 Audio IO
board.
- Thermal and WDR
In the Setup > Image Control > Exposure Settings
dialog, WDR can also be activated for a thermal sensor and switching on
this option has no effect.
- Dialog Integration Protocols
For M73 cameras with only one sensor module, the Admin ->
Camera Administration -> Integration Protocols dialog is
empty after activating one of the protocols ONVIF
or Genetec via the
installation wizard of the web browser. This state can be corrected by
first deactivating the set protocol ONVIF or Genetec
and then turning it back on.
- RTSP-Streaming
If only one image sensor module is connected in the M73, the streaming
mode Raw cannot be selected at this time.

Creation Date: 2020-09-15
Publishing Date: 2020-09-18
Enhancements and Improvements
Improved and additional Certified Apps
This release has improved and partially expanded existing Certified Apps
and added new apps
Notes on installing the Certified Apps:
- To install all revised and new apps, after updating the firmware to
version 7.0.6.18, the package 'MX_preinstalled_apps_7_0618.app' must
be loaded into the camera , e.g. via the web browser dialog Admin
> System Update > Update System Software. This
package can be found on www.mobotix.com in the Support
> Download Center > Software Downloads > Certified Apps
> MX Certified Apps Release 7.0.6.18 area.
- This update installs the latest versions of the apps of A.I. Tech.,
Visage Technologies, MOBOTIX Analytics, FF Group and Vaxtor into the
camera.
MOBOTIX Analytics
Analytics
without additional function
This version makes the MxAnalytics functions, known from previous camera
lines, available for the first time within a pre-installed royalty-free
App. As with all other Apps, activation and configuration is done via
the Setup >
Certified App Control > Certified App Settings dialog.
Analytics with object recognition
In addition, the new Use AI
component option enables object recognition based on AI/Deep
Learning techniques. For example, you can distinguish between different
types of objects, such as cars, trucks, people, etc. To use this
feature, a special software package must be installed on the camera (see
following note). After installing this package, the Use
AI component option and the additional Object Recognition Settings app
are available to configure AI-based object detection.
Notes on installing the MOBOTIX Analytics
app with object recognition:
- To
use the MOBOTIX Analytics app with AI/Deep-Learning-based object
detection, the package 'MX_system_ObjectDetectionYv3_7_0618.mpl'
must be installed on the camera instead of 'MX_system_7_0618.mpl' as
firmware.
- ATTENTION: After
installing this package, the camera always behaves like a single
lense camera and uses the image sensor connected to M1 -
this also applies to cameras with two installed image sensors.
- Using
AI-based object detection together with other Apps is not
recommended for performance reasons!
A.I.Tech Apps
All available A.I. Tech apps
receive the following updates:
- New 3rd Party VMS interfaces now allow the direct integration of A.I.
Tech App Events into wavestore and Qognify Cayuga systems.
- Embedded Dashboard no longer needs to be activated separately, the
interface is automatically activated after the App is started.
- The online documentation of the A.I. Tech Apps can now be accessed
directly from the web interface.
Valid
for all apps with 3D calibration (AI-Road3D, AI-Traffic,
AI-Incident, AI-Crowd Deep):
- In this release, a new 3D calibration mechanism has been introduced
that allows you to get visual feedback about the procedure performed and
to immediately detect errors made during the configuration procedure.
AI-Bio Deep:
- A new facial recognition mechanism based entirely on deep learning is
now available in the AI-BIO-DEEP App. This extension allows for greater
accuracy in facial recognition and makes detection less susceptible to
potential interference.
- In order to adapt the performance of the App to the needs of the
customer, you can now choose between different neural networks for
facial detection
AI-Spill:
- The update adds a new deep learning-based neural network to the App to
detect falling people, further improving the App's accuracy.
AI-Fire & AI-Smoke:
- The App now includes an even more powerful yet more efficient
classification mechanism that increases accuracy and detection speed.
Visage Technologies (VT) Face Recognition App
- Faces can now be mapped to an "Granted" or "Denied" list while
learning.
Notes on updating the existing apps:
- Configurations of the A.I. Tech Apps used should
be backed up locally before the update, as they will be overwritten
during the process. The configuration file can then be uploaded back
to the new version of the App.
- Due to the new list structure, the already learned faces have to be
re-learned after the update of the VT Face App.
FF Group und Vaxtor LPR Apps
- This means that two additional License Plate Recognition (LPR) Apps
are now available.
General improvements
- Errors when activating a Certified App, e.g. due to a faulty
connection to the license server, are now logged in the system messages.
Bugfixes
- Setting the image sensor for thermal cameras
For Thermal cameras the setting of the image sensor in the Admin >
Hardware Configuration > Image Sensor Configuration dialog was
incorrect in certain cases.
- MxActivity Sensor Events in Thermal Cameras
Using MxActivity events with defined detection ranges could cause
thermal cameras to fail when moving outside the defined areas.
- Thermal TR temperature at left image
When using a Thermal TR module as a left image sensor, incorrect
temperatures (e.g. 2000°C) were sometimes displayed as a temperature
reading after a camera restart.
- Visage Technologies Face Recognition App
This app could cause permanent false triggers under certain conditions
and lighting conditions.
- A.I.Tech App Dashboard
This app could only make half of the camera live image visible in the
app dashboard
Known Limitations
- Dialog Integration Protocols
For M73 cameras with only one sensor module, the Admin ->
Camera Administration -> Integration Protocols dialog is
empty after activating one of the protocols ONVIF
or Genetec via the
installation wizard of the web browser. This state can be corrected by
first deactivating the set protocol ONVIF or Genetec
and then turning it back on.
- RTSP-Streaming
If only one image sensor module is connected in the M73, the streaming
mode Raw cannot be selected at this time.

Software Release MX-V7.0.5.16 − for M7 Camera Model M73
Creation Date: 2020-06-30
Publishing Date: 2020-07-02
Enhancements and Improvements
Support for thermal sensor modules
This version supports the new M73 thermal sensor modules. These are
available with different lenses (focal lengths), with and without thermal
radiometry function and in contrast to the Mx6 camera line also in VGA
resolution. The thermal sensor modules are permanently installed in an M73
front panel, which is then mounted in the M73 camera. A thermal sensor
module can be combined with an image sensor module and another function
module (e.g. an IR light module). The setup and use of thermal (TR) events
is done exactly as in Mx6 cameras with thermal sensor modules.
Notes
- In order to display the thermal image, it is mandatory to assign the
sensor to the left or right camera image in the Admin >
Hardware Configuration > Image Sensor Configuration
dialog after installing a thermal sensor module.
- In this version, the Value Range of the
temperature values to be measured can not be set to Automatic
in the Setup > Image Control > Thermal Sensor Settings
dialog. You must choose between Small
(High sensitivity) and Large
(Low sensitivity). Ex works, the Value Range is set to Small
(High sensitivity).
Bugfixes
- Intensity
IR Light Module
The setting of the IR Light
Power Level in the Admin
> Hardware Configuration > Assign Wires dialog was
ineffective when activating the IR Light module by a day-night switch.
The module has always been activated with the highest intensity.
Known Limitations
- Dialog Integration Protocols
For M73 cameras with only one sensor module, the Admin ->
Camera Administration -> Integration Protocols dialog is
empty after activating one of the protocols ONVIF
or Genetec via the
installation wizard of the web browser. This state can be corrected by
first deactivating the set protocol ONVIF or Genetec
and then turning it back on.
- RTSP-Streaming
If only one image sensor module is connected in the M73, the streaming
mode Raw cannot be selected at this time.

Software Release MX-V7.0.4.18-r1 − for M7 Camera Model M73
Creation Date: 2020-05-12
Publishing Date: 2020-05-13
Notes on Release MX-V7.0.4.18-r1
This release is different from its predecessor release 7.0.4.18
only in the bugfix "IR Light Module disabled".
Enhancements and Improvements
WDR Feature
The behavior of the Wide Dynamic Range feature that aims at
improving images with large differences in image illumination has been
improved substantially compared to the predecessor release. In particular,
you do not need to define an exposure
window to improve the results. In addition, this feature has been improved
if an IR Light module is attached. If the camera activates this module due
to diminishing illumination, overexposure of objects close to the camera
is reduced. The WDR function can be activated in the Setup Menu
> Image Control > Exposure Settings dialog, and three
modes are available to adapt to the current scene: Low
for low, Medium for medium, and
High for large brightness
differences between dark and bright areas in the image.
Note
After activating this feature for an image sensor, the camera will
ignore the settings in the Target Brigthness section of
the Setup Menu > Image Control > Exposure Settings
dialog for this sensor..
ONVIF-T and H.265
With this software version, the M7 camera models support the ONVIF-T
standard. This includes in particular the use of
H.265 as a video codec and the display of texts into the
live image using the ONVIF-T function OSD
(OnScreenDisplay).
In addition, the H.265 codec can also be used
independently of the integration of an M7 camera via ONVIF-T for RTSP
streaming by any RTSP client, such as VLC. H.265 can also be
used as a video codec when integrating M7 models into the Genetec
Security Center via the Genetec integration interface.
USB Interface
With
this version, the USB interface of the camera can be used for the
following functions:
- Storage
of video and audio data in MxFFS format on USB storage media (USB
sticks, SSD drives or hard drives). The camera supports the USB 2.0
standard.
- Integration
of an MX-232-IO box for the use of its signal inputs/outputs and/or
its serial interface
- Connecting a USB FTDI
adapter for standard RS232 connections
Other Improvements
- Improved data rate for MxPEG/M-JPEG codec
The video codecs MxPEG and M-JPEG have been further optimized, so that
data rate savings of about 15% are achieved with the same image quality,
depending on the setting.
- Saving the current live image
The Save Image function in the live view of the web
browser has been improved. Now, regardless of the live stream, an image
with the best possible JPEG quality is saved.
Notes
- The two lines at the bottom of the live image, which contain event
information, are no longer output in the saved image with this
function.
- If necessary, the function's behavior can be configured to restore
the old behavior. For this purpose, the parameter SAVE_IMAGE_BUTTON=live
can be added to the camera configuration file in the SECTION
homepage. Currently, this value is implicitly set to
best.
Bugfixes
- IR Light Module disabled
(V7.0.4.18-r1)
In version 7.0.4.18, when switching to the night mode, a possible
existing IR Light module was no longer activated.
- Message events of
the Facial Recognition App
When using the Visage Technology Face Recognition app in
Operation
Mode Recognition,
message events named VT_Face
were triggered even if a person, who had not previously been trained
in Operation Mode Enrollment
, was detected by the system. The event had to be restricted to
already known people by additional filtering of the event content.
This is no longer necessary, as in Operation Mode
Recognition
events are only triggered when previously learned faces are
detected.
- Lens configuration
In the Admin -> Hardware Configuration
area, the Lens Configuration
dialog could be opened incorrectly and
the settings made there were ineffective. The dialog has been removed.
Known Limitations
- Dialog Integration Protocols
For M73 cameras with only one sensor module, the Admin ->
Camera Administration -> Integration Protocols dialog is
empty after activating one of the protocols ONVIF
or Genetec via the
installation wizard of the web browser. This state can be corrected by
first deactivating the set protocol ONVIF or Genetec
and then turning it back on.
- RTSP-Streaming
If only one image sensor module is connected in the M73, the streaming
mode Raw cannot be selected at this time.

Software Release MX-V7.0.1.20 − for M7 Camera Model M73
Creation Date: 2020-02-13
Publishing Date: 2020-02-14
Important Notes
- First released software for completely newly developed M73
model
This is the first released software version for the new M7 camera line
with quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor. The M73 is the first model of
this new high-performance camera line. In addition to the well-known
functions of the Mx6 camera line, this supports completely new
features such as H.264 streaming with 30 frames/second at 4k
resolution, the use of 3 sensor or function modules, intelligent video
analysis with flexible AI and deep learning-based Apps and
many more.
- User interface equals
The software of the new model series based on this system
platform is largely identical in terms of operation, functions and
menu navigation with the software of the previous Mx6 series. This
applies both to the configuration via the user interface of the web
browser as well as to the integration into the
MxManagementCenter.
- Support for existing configurations
Existing camera configuration files from corresponding cameras of the
Mx6 model series can be loaded directly and used further. This is
important in the event of a camera being replaced or for the
integration of new cameras into existing systems. The configuration
for the fundamentally changed area of the Integration
Protocols, the completely new functional area of the
Apps and all new detailed functions, such as the setting of the IR cut
filter, must be recreated or adjusted.
The following describes the new features, enhancements and enhancements
compared to the first version 7.0.0.111 delivered with M73 cameras.
Enhancements and Improvements
Support for the new IR-Cut Day & Night Sensor Modules and IR Light
Modules
IR-Cut Day & Night Sensor Module
The M73 supports the use of the new IR-Cut Day & Night
sensor modules. These are color sensor modules with an integrated swivel
IR blocking filter for day and night operation. This filter is
automatically switched off at low illumination, which also provides bright
images at night and using the possibly integrated IR module. This
automatic mode is activated by factory setting and the Lux value used to
switch to night mode can be set in the setup > image control
> general image settings dialog. In the
same dialog, the filter can also be switched manually if required.
IR
Light Module
The activation of a possible integrated IR Light module is coupled to
the activation of the "Night Mode" as follows:
- If
an IR-Cut Day & Night sensor module is also used, this is done
when switching the IR blocking filter off (see above).
- If
the IR Light module is used together with a normal day and night
sensor module, the IR Light module is activated when the night sensor
module is activated by the automatic day-night switching.
Apps
Additional App for face recognition
In addition to the A.I. Tech Apps AI* the Visage
Technology Face Recognition App for facial recognition is also
available with this version. After installation (see the following notes),
the activation and configuration of this App is done exactly as for the
other Apps in the Setup > Certified App
Control > Certified App Settings dialog.
Apps AI* from A.I. Tech
This firmware release also includes updated and improved versions
of A.I's AI* Apps. Tech (see below)
Notes on
installing and using the AI* (A.I. Tech) and Visage
Technology Face Recognition Apps
- These Apps are installed by uploading the file
'MX_preinstalled_apps_7_0120.app' via the Admin > System
Update > Update System Software dialog in the web
browser or using the MxManagementCenter. You can download
this file from the Support > Download
Center > Software Downloads > Certified Apps section
of the MOBOTIX web site. The AI* Apps already included in
version 7.0.0.111 are updated.
- The update to version 7.0.1.20 will delete previously generated
results of the Apps AI* that may have been generated and
stored on the camera's internal SD card.
- By installing the above App package
'MX_preinstalled_apps_7_0120.app', previously executed configurations
of the Apps AI* are overwritten again with the factory
settings. The previously performed configurations can be backed up
before installation and reloaded if necessary.
Apps and messages from the MxMessagesystem
Activating an App automatically defines a matching message in the
MxMessageSystem, which is sent internally (locally) after a detection of
the App. All App messages that can be used in this way are listed in the
Message Events section of the Setup > Event
Control > Event Overview dialog and can be further
configured from there. Depending on the App, the messages sent when a
detection event occurs also contain parameters that can be used for
event processing. For example, the message can be searched with a
regular expression as a filter for a text (string). In this case, an
action is executed only if the message sent by the App contains the
previously defined text as a parameter. The complete message sent by an
App during detections, including the parameters, can be listed by
entering the command <IP>/api/json/messages in the web browser,
after a previously performed detection.
Bugfixes
- A.I.
Tech App
- If
one of the A.I. Tech Apps was configured with a sensor other than
the one currently shown in the camera live image, the camera could
have done a restart.
- With
the application of some A.I. Tech apps (e.g. AIParking)
a camera restart could occur after a few minutes.
- In
addition, after activating the A.I. Tech apps, there were
performance problems with camera operation in the web browser.
- Full
screen recording
When using the full screen recording, there could be image errors
(stripes in the picture).
Known Limitations
- RTSP-Streaming
If only one image sensor module is connected in the M73, the streaming
mode Raw cannot be selected at this time.
- USB interface not supported
This version doesn't support the hardware USB interface yet.
