MxThinClient Features
Using the MxThinClient, you can show live streams of MOBOTIX x4/x5 or Mx6 cameras or static images (JPEG or PNG) on a TV or monitor with HDMI input. The maximum resolution is Full HD. If the camera or images are too large, MxThinClient can downscale the images to the desired size.
The software of the MxThinClient has the following features:
- Sequencer Feature:
By default, the integrated sequencer automatically cycles through all defined image sources (cameras and still images). For this purpose, you can set a global time to show an image source and also individual times to show specific image sources.
- Automatic Pop-Up Feature (via MxMessageSystem):
On top of the automatic sequencer, the device can also show an image source as a reaction to specific events. For example, you can use this mechanism to show the live video stream from a MOBOTIX door station after someone rang the doorbell. To be able to use this feature, MxMessageSystem must be configured properly both on the camera and on the MxThinClient. The image source will pop up after the device has received an MxMessageSystem notification with the specified message name.
- Configuration:
To configure MxThinClient and the images sources in particular, you simply access the web user interface of the device in a web browser. By default, MxThinClient runs as a DHCP client with a second fixed IP address in the 10.x.x.x range (factory IP address).

Software Release V1.1.0.3 of MxThinClient
Creation Date: 2018-01-31
Publishing Date: 2018-02-14
Important Note
This software will force you to change the factory default password "meinsm
".
Enhancements and Improvements
Integration of MxThinClient into MxManagementCenter (Version 1.7 and Higher)
This firmware release allows integrating MxThinClient into MxManagementCenter (MxMC). You can use an MxThinClient thus integrated to show live streams of cameras on a monitor or TV connected to the MxThinClient via HDMI. The communication between MxMC and the MxThinClient uses the MxMessageSystem. Besides setting up the MxThinClient in the device tree of MxMC, you also need to configure the MxMessageSystem in the MxThinClient accordingly. It is also required that the MxMC computer and the MxThinClient are using the same time server to stay in sync. This is a prerequisite for successful operation of the MxMessageSystem.
Checking the Standard Access Credentials
When setting up an MxThinClient device with this software release for the first time or after updating from release 1.0 to this release, the device will check the access credentials and will force you to change the default password ("meinsm
") if this password is still used.
Other Improvements
Connections to Camera via HTTPS Protocol
To access the images from cameras via https and the secure SSL protocol, you can activate the additional SSL/TLS support option.
Optional Suppression of Connection Errors
If you want to skip error messages of connection failures in sequencer mode, you can now open the Images Sources dialog and activate the new Skip Errors option.
Loading Image Sources
While configuring the image sources in MxThinClient, the device now shows a "Loading...
" message, since this process may take several seconds for many image sources.
Bugfixes
- Use of domain names
Using domain names in addresses of image sources did not work properly.
- Network switches with IEEE 802.3az
Connecting an MxThinClient to a switch with activated energy saving mode according to IEEE 802.3az sometimes resulted in connection failures.
- Explanatory text for image sources
The explanatory text for defining camera addresses in the Image Sources dialog has been improved.
- Configuration and reboot
If the MxThinClient device had been restarted shortly after changing and storing the configuration settings, the changes sometimes did not get stored properly.
Known Limitations
- Unsupported image sizes and display modes
For special and rarely-used combinations of camera display modes and display resolutions defined in MxThinClient for an image source, the device may show the "Unsupported Resolution
" error message.
- Languages
The web-based user interface of MxThinClient currently only supports German, English and French.
